Year 3

Australian Curriculum v9
7 topics
5 learning areas

Year 3 is the first year with real abstraction. Multiplication and division arrive as ideas rather than repeated counting, fractions appear as parts of a whole, and children are asked to explain how they got an answer, not only what it was. In English the emphasis moves from reading accurately to reading for meaning and point of view.
